問合せ先：TEL:03-3238-3552 【開講期間】 平日 12：30～21:00 土曜日 10：00～11：30／12：30～16：30 【講座のない期間】 平日 9：30～11：30／12：30～17：00
MOTIVATED, positive, international-thinking students are invited to join us, as we practice NORTH-AMERICAN pronunciation of English, mixed with CONVERSATION. ‘Th’, ‘v’, ‘r’, ‘l’ ,VOWEL sounds, and others may be practiced (and student pronunciation ‘requests’ are welcome). We might also read some News stories, for pronunciation and intonation practice. Conversation topics may include opinions; ‘How are you?’; news topics from newspaper articles; discussing likes & dislikes; perhaps some grammar points; and video- and song-listening exercises. Please sit at the FRONT; sit together with two other GENKI students; SMILE; participate 427% ; SPEAK a lot together, in a friendly way; show ‘Western’ manners (e.g., cover your mouth when coughing/sneezing/yawning); use INTERNATIONAL open body language (please avoid 'crossed arms'; and avoid showing a 'poker face'); GUESS (quickly) if you don’t know an answer; use PENS (not pencils); develop a sense of HUMOR; and please always keep a LARGE name card on your desk, so that classmates and the teacher can learn your name; and GO FOR IT! [Gambatte!]
This is an INTERNATIONAL-style (‘Western-style’) class: students will learn by participating FULLY; by trying NEW STYLES of learning; and by bringing and showing MOTIVATION. Pronunciation ‘drills’ will be done/ practised; song-listening exercises will help to improve pronunciation, listening, and vocabulary; and pair-practice will assist MOTIVATED, outgoing (‘Gai-ko-teki’) students to explore conversation topics. Some INTERNATIONAL VIDEOS and SONGS may also be included. Explanations by the teacher are given in English(and a little Japanese, if needed).
Pronunciation drills will provide each student a chance to listen to and to imitate NORTH AMERICAN English pronunciation. Conversation topics will be modeled (by the teacher); and then pair-practiced by ENERGETIC students. Student opinions are invited, in conversing about current topics, song themes, movies, News, and other cross-cultural issues.
If students learn to LISTEN to and accurately COPY English sounds, they can improve their English pronunciation. Much depends on YOUR (student) motivation, participation, and positive energy. Please divest yourselves of ‘Wasei Eigo’; cultivate a positive sense of HUMOR; and ‘challenge’ real, modern English! ‘Go for it!’ (Gambatte!)
